Punjab Sewa Kendras now offering 153 citizen services to the residents of Punjab.

E-Governance or Electronic governance is the latest concept in rendering various cost-effective government services to customers and business spheres. And, to deliver such citizen-centric services without pilferage, transparency and accountability play a pivotal role in cementing the faith of populace in their State Government. The actual concept of E-Governance was set off in 2005 by Captain Amarinder Singh, the Honourable Chief Minister of Punjab. To fulfill his dream schema in the state of Punjab, BLS International has reshaped the age-old concept in the form of Punjab Sewa-Kendras (PSKs) in the middle of August 2016. Today, with 72 lakh processed applications covering 153 services across 2,147 Sewa-Kendras in the entire state of Punjab, BLS International has not only turned Captain’s dream into reality but it has also been a significant source of livelihood to more than 5,000 youth workforce and underprivileged citizens in the state. This magical milestone portrays a thriving image of the consistent and trustworthy government services that are being delivered to favor the citizens of Punjab at a reliable scale.

Being the single point-of-contact among the citizens of Punjab, all these Sewa-Kendras are set up in a close proximity covering the remote areas in the state. Such easy accessibility further facilitates the applicants from the far-flung areas to reach out to these centres without consuming much time and effort. Besides, what set these centres apart from the E-governance practices is an exclusion of any third party and unwanted paperwork. With bureaucratic complexities and red tape practices in most of the government activities in India, abiding a translucent and responsive work structure always mitigates the propensity of corruption and unethical work practices in serving various government documentation needs to the applicants. In addition, through these centers, the people of Punjab can also get an easy access to different government records without hassle.

Punjab Sewa-Kendras serve a number of applicants on a day-to-day basis who visit these Kendras for getting their various government documentation needs done. Some of the important services that are catered through these Sewa-Kendras include issuance or renewal of Birth & Death Certificate, Marriage Registration, Affidavit Attestation Sanction for social security benefits to old age, handicapped, widow, Sanction of building plans, Transfer of ownership, Caste Services (SC/BC/ OBC), Aadhar related and Passport related services, Agricultural services, Collection of Bills (BSNL and PSPCL) and other services under the Punjab Right to Services Act, 2011.

Expediting the E-Governance excellence in the state of Punjab, two new services have been included in the gamut of 151 services, recently at these PSKs. These two services include;

  1. Application for E-registration Fee/ Additional E-registration Certificate under Department of Revenue and Rehabilitation; and
  2. Registration of Construction Worker under Department of Labour

All matters pertaining to settlements, property revenue, e-registration, construction worker, recovery of government dues, property administration etc. will be a part of these newly added services. Considering the rapid growing footfalls and numbers of processed applications, many more effective services are also expected to be included at these Sewa-Kendras in near future.
