Private Visa

Overview

Type C — A short-term Private visa

Visit for private purposes.

The visa can be issued based on one of the following documents:

  • An invitation for a foreigner to visit the Republic of Belarus issued by the local unit of the Citizenship and Migration Department or information available at the Belarusian diplomatic mission abroad on the issuance of such an invitation;
    or
  • Document on the death or serious illness of a person in the territory of the Republic of Belarus – for a foreigner and his / her close relatives who or whose close relative or spouse has fallen seriously ill or died in the territory of the Republic of Belarus;
    or
  • Summon;
    or
  • Document confirming the right of ownership / share in the right of ownership of residential premises in the territory of the Republic of Belarus – for an owner of residential premises and (or) members of his / her family;
    or
  • Visa support letter of a Belarusian healthcare institution or a contract for medical services with a Belarusian healthcare institution, made in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, – for a foreigner, who needs medical care in Belarus;
    or
  • Visa support letter of a Belarusian healthcare institution – for a foreign attendant of a foreigner, who needs medical care in Belarus;
    or
  • Visa support letter of a legal entity or a representative office of a foreign organisation in the Republic of Belarus – for a family member of a foreigner travelling to the Republic of Belarus on a business trip, to participate in sports, cultural, scientific, educational events and internships, or to work; who accompanies such a foreigner;
    or
  • Visa support letter of a Belarusian educational institution – for a foreigner, who accompanies a person, travelling to Belarus to participate in entrance examinations and / or to enroll in an educational institution of the Republic of Belarus;
    or
  • Document proving family ties or marital relations with a citizen of the Republic of Belarus (birth certificate, marriage certificate, certificate of name change) – for a family member or a close relative of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus;
    or
  • Document confirming the fact of birth in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or belonging to the Belarusian d-visitity – for a foreigner born in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or being Belarusian by d-visitity;
    or
  • Application of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, whose signature is certified by an official of the Belarusian foreign diplomatic mission authorised to perform notarial acts – upon the decision of the consular officer;
    or
  • The written of the citizen of the Republic of Belarus, whose signature is confirmed at the Belarusian embassy or consulate, – upon the decision of the consular officer;
    or
  • Temporary residence permit in the Republic of Belarus (for an entry visa for a period of stay not exceeding 30 days, but not longer than the validity of the temporary residence permit in the Republic of Belarus) – for a foreigner who has not obtained an exit-entry visa from the Citizenship and Migration Department before leaving the Republic of Belarus;
    or
  • Information, available at the Belarusian diplomatic mission abroad or the Division for the Admission of Foreigners of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DAF), that a foreigner has a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Belarus (for an entry visa for a period of stay not exceeding 30 days, but not longer than the validity of the temporary residence permit in the Republic of Belarus) – for a foreigner who does not have neither a valid residence permit in the Republic of Belarus nor a biometric residence permit;
    or
  • An original certificate of the place of burial of relatives in the form established by the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, or information of the Belarusian Red Cross Society or other organisation affiliated with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement on the preservation of the burial place (this document must have been issued within the last five years) – for a foreigner whose close relative or spouse has a close relative or spouse buried in the territory of the Republic of Belarus, as well as close relatives, spouse of such a foreigner;
    or
  • Verbal note of a diplomatic mission or consular office of a foreign state, a representative office or an organ of an International organisation or an interstate entity in the Republic of Belarus containing information about the foreigner and the visa requested – for a foreigner travelling to the Republic of Belarus as a guest of the head or a member of such diplomatic mission or consular office of a foreign state, a representative office or an organ of an International organisation or an interstate entity;
  • Visa application form filled in correctly;
  • Passport size photo 3.5 X 4.5 (white background);
  • Original passport with 2 blank pages (+personal data page photocopy);
  • Medical insurance valid throughout the applicant's stay in Belarus;
  • Flight ticket;
  • Applicant bank statement 3 months stamp & seal.

Documents Required

The list of documents required in order to obtain a visa to Belarus

1. A standard visa application form in one (1) copy.

- It should be borne in mind that a visa application form must be filled out in a legible handwriting or typed in the d-visit language of the host country of a foreign institution, in the Belarusian, Russian or English languages.

- Answers to the questions of the visa application form must be complete and logically consistent. In the application form, it is mandatory to indicate the actual purpose of a trip. The visa application form must be signed by the foreign citizen personally. The visa application form for a minor must be signed by his/her legal representative.

2. One (1) photograph according to the International standard: size 35х45 mm, on a light background, high resolution; in addition, the face must occupy 80% of the photograph; the photograph must not be older than six (6) months.

3. A foreign travel document– a passport or its replacement document — must contain a photograph of the owner.

- If children under 18 years old intend to travel abroad, a foreign travel document must contain the photographs of such persons.

- It is important to know that a passport must have at least two (2) blank pages intended for visa; its issue date must not be older than ten (10) years.

- Besides, a foreign travel document submitted by a foreigner must not be dubious in terms of authenticity or ownership; it must not contain any torn or unbound pages, entries or corrections that are not certified by the relevant competent authorities.

4. A medical insurance contract concluded with RUE Belgosstrakh or Beleximgarant or a medical insurance contract concluded with any foreign insurance organization.

- A medical insurance contract must contain the following data: the name of the foreign insurance organization, its country and registered address, contact data (phone numbers, e-mail), the full name of the foreign citizen.

- The insurance contract must cover the territory of the Republic of Belarus; it must also be valid for the total period of the foreigner's stay in Belarus. The limit of indemnity must not be less than EUR 10 000.

5. A confirmation of the consular fee paid (see the consular fee rate on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus: www.mfa.gov.by).

6. In certain cases, additional documents at the request of a consular officer in order to issue or deny a visa.

Photo Specifications

Applicants need to submit their Application form with the new photo format, as explained below:

General

The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).

  • Use white background.
  • The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
  • Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
  • Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
  • Photo in sharp focus and clear.

Photo Size

The photo for each visa applicant submitted must measure:

  • The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
  • On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3.5 x 4.5 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.

Processing Time

Normal visa service - 5 working days/ urgent visa service - 2 working days (the submission day is included). Usually, Saturday & Sunday are days off. In certain cases, the visa consideration period may be prolonged by the Visa Consul.
