Biometrics

Since 14 September 2015, all visa applicants aged 12 or over must undergo biometric data collection. In the Visa Application Form (VAF), applicants must indicate in section 28 any previous biometric enrolment and the country where it was carried out. The biometric process includes a photograph taken in person at the BLS centre and the collection of fingerprints. Applicants without fingers or hands must still attend the BLS centre for the photograph, and those with minor injuries on their hands or fingers should wait for them to heal, whenever time before travel allows.

Exemption from biometric enrolment:
  •Children up to and including 11 years of age. From the age of 12, children must provide fingerprints and a photograph.

Additional / Re-enrolment of biometric data:
  •The Consular Post may request applicants to submit their fingerprints again;
  •If possible, it is recommended that applicants who have previously completed biometric enrolment redo their fingerprints;
  •Mandatory for all applicants who have received a new passport.
