BLS Divorce Attestation

Divorce Attestation

Overview

The Embassy does not issue divorce certificates. A decree of divorce can only be issued by a competent court of Law. However, if an applicant has already obtained a decree of divorce from a competent Indian court of law and got it apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs, (Consular Division), Patiala House, New Delhi. Such apostilled documents do not require attestation from this Embassy. The Embassy will attest the seal of the Ministry if it is more than six months old.

Important: Documents for attestation will be accepted only in Hindi/English. The Embassy does not work in Spanish, and will not attest papers in Spanish, Catalan, or any other language of Spain or Andorra. In cases where the applicant needs attestation for papers in Spanish, these will first have to be translated into English by an official translator, and then attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain or Andorra, depending on where the papers were originally issued. The seal of the Foreign Office will then be attested by the Embassy.
